Episode 309

Songs To Learn And Sing - Episode 309

Catherine Wheel - Ferment (Fontana Records, 1992)

This episode features Catherine Wheel's brilliant Black Metallic. I've been listening to Cherry Red's reissue of the band's classic 1992 debut album, Ferment and I think that unlike a lot of the albums recorded by the band's showgazing peers this album really stands the test of time. The Cherry Red reissue features extra tracks and extensive sleeve notes - well worth checking out.

This episode also featured a track by Snowbird (Simon Raymonde and Stephanie Dosen) for the Explorers Club. The Explorers Club is a collaboration between LOAF recordings and the Arctic Circle collective and has been releasing tracks since January 2010. The monthly download releases have so far included tracks by Peter Broderick, David Kitt, Sweet Billy Pilgrim. Kama Aina and others. Snowbird will release their debut album later this year on Bella Union.
